From the Director and President

Director's Notes:

It is a pleasure to serve an organization like AZTEA! As an ISTE affiliate, we have the unique privilege of helping teachers, CTOs and administrators around the use of technology in teaching and learning. We adopted the ISTE vision of a world where all learners thrive, achieve and contribute. AZTEA strives to bring our members professional development and conferences to help achieve our vision and mission. We are planning an Unconference in early December to help teachers and trainers with ways to use ISTE 2016 Standards for Students in the classroom. Details coming soon.

AZTEA has partnered with Big Deal Media to provide our members with a by-weekly newsletter. Big Deal Media saves educators hours of research and thousands of dollars while identifying top-quality resources and OERs for schools and classrooms. It is a content-rich collection of trusted print and electronic publications that offer the information and tools K-12 educators need-all vetted through the prism of the curriculum. It consistently delivers wish lists of resources and funding opportunities, and has done so since 1995. Be looking for this in your email!

AZTEA has also partnered with Bloomz. Bloomz is a place where parents feel more connected than they ever have to their children's world. And teachers have more time than ever before, because they have everything they need, in one simple-to-use tools. AZTEA members can receive a free Bloomz account. AZTEA will be conducting more in-depth training on this great tool. You will receive information about the training date(s).

We appreciate our members for your continued support and involvement. If you are not certain if your membership is current, contact Bethany Ligon, chair of our membership committee. You can reach her at bethanyligon74@gmail.com. She can help you with renewals! Be looking for a wide range of webinars, conferences and other professional development opportunities designed for our membership. From the AzTEA President:

I want to thank you for being a part of AzTEA!  It is the membership of our organization that drives all that we do.  We have an exciting year planned with many opportunities for our members to find new ways to integrate the effective use of technology into your classroom and schools, connect with others that share your passion for teaching, and get involved in one of our committees.

AzTEA has many exciting new professional development opportunities both in person and through webinars planned for our members in the coming months.  We will explore new ways to engage your students and increase their skills using technology in your classrooms and schools.

Additionally, we will have new opportunities for you to add to your Professional Learning Communities throughout the year.  It is through connecting with my peers and sharing new ideas that has been most important to my growth over the years and I hope that you can take advantage of one or more of these regional events.

Finally, I want to open the door for any member of AzTEA to get more involved in our organization by volunteering for one of our committees.  We are an all volunteer organization and we are always looking for new ideas to grow what we do for our members.  If you are interested in becoming more involved, please feel free to reach out to me at njt@fusdaz.org and I will get you in touch with the committee chair to see how you can help (please visit www.aztea.org for more information on our committees).

Be sure to check our website at www.aztea.org for updates on all the exciting events and activities we have planned.  I wish everyone a wonderful year with lot’s of success with your students and I hope to see you at an AzTEA event or webinar soon!

Sincerely,

Nick Trakas
AzTEA President
